Earlier today (17 January 2019), Dr Aziza Geleta, Minister Plenipotentiary for Political Affairs and Deputy Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the UNEP at the Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya conferred with German State Secretary at the Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, H.E. Mr. Jochen Flasbarth.
The talks between Dr Aziza and HE Mr Flasbarth mainly focused on the multifaceted venues of cooperation between Ethiopia and Germany over the years, especially in the areas of development cooperation and on issues concerning the conservation of the environment and ways of further enhancing them.
Reiterating the fact that Ethiopia and Germany enjoyed longstanding and historic bilateral relations, Dr Aziza expressed Ethiopia’s gratitude for German support in the creation of a resilient economy through development funding and a science-based policy advice.
HE Mr. Flasbarth, on his part, told Dr Aziza, “Ethiopia has been an important partner (of Germany) in climate negotiations.” He further added, Germany is committed to supporting the creation of a resilient economic model such as the promotion of the use of clean energy in Ethiopia.
